Team Junkfish, an indie developer, is preparing to drop Wilderdark on Steam on Tuesday, Nov. 10, after offering a free demo during the latest Steam Next Fest.

The title reimagines the classic stranded on a dinosaur‑filled island premise as a survival‑horror experience. According to its Steam page, the island’s inhabitants are not ordinary dinosaurs; they are afflicted by a “mysterious ectoparasitic organism” that produces glowing, grotesque growths on their skin and spreads to the surrounding plant life.

Unlike the “theme park gone wrong” setting of Jurassic Park, Wilderdark centers on a lone protagonist dispatched to the “unnatural island in search of immortality.” The narrative notes that previous seekers—including the character’s own parents—have disappeared while probing the island’s secrets.

As a survival game, Wilderdark promises crafting mechanics: players will establish camps, gather resources, and collect samples from both fauna and flora. A camera is required to photograph and scan every living organism, making stealth a critical component of gameplay.

The demo received mixed reviews, which the developers attribute to technical issues stemming from an older build. Aside from the demo, the full release is billed as one of the most terrifying yet promising Steam titles slated for the remainder of 2026.
