Nissan Unveils Twin‑Turbo V6 Restomod of the Classic Datsun S30 at SEMA 2026

Nissan’s one‑off Datsun S30 Concept blends the original 240Z silhouette with a modern twin‑turbo V6 and extensive carbon‑fiber upgrades.
Classic Looks, Modern Heart
The original Datsun S30, which introduced the 240Z, is celebrated for its long hood, short rear deck and clean lines. Nissan is revisiting that iconic shape for the 2026 SEMA Show with a project called the Datsun S30 Concept, created in partnership with Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg.
Powertrain Upgrade
Under the hood sits Nissan’s VR30DDTT 3.0‑liter twin‑turbo V6, the same engine found in the current Nissan Z. While Nissan has not released official power figures, the component list suggests performance well beyond the stock Z’s 400 horsepower.
Additional engine hardware includes Garrett PMAX turbos, NISMO cold‑air intakes, a NISMO heat exchanger, and a twin‑disc clutch. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six‑speed manual transmission and a NISMO R200 limited‑slip differential.
Fuel is supplied by a Radium Engineering 10‑gallon fuel cell with a surge tank, fed by a DeatschWerks pump capable of 450 liters per hour. A carbon‑fiber NISMO engine cover tops the engine bay.
Chassis, Suspension, and Brakes
Techno Toy Tuning provides a full suspension suite: coilovers, control arms, sway bars, strut‑tower bars and upgraded steering components. Stopping power comes from Wilwood brakes with six‑piston calipers and large rotors up front, and four‑piston calipers with sizable rear discs.
Carbon‑Fiber Exterior
The restomod retains the S30’s classic silhouette but replaces the fenders, hood, air dam, bumpers, rear hatch and spoiler with carbon‑fiber pieces. The body is painted in Nissan’s Seiran Blue and finished with NISMO 40th anniversary decals.
Wheels are NISMO LM‑RS6 forged 17 × 9‑inch rims shod with 245/40R17 X‑Comp HP tires, complementing the upgraded suspension and brakes.
Interior Details
Inside, the car features OMP Silverstone racing seats, custom door cards and a Grip Royal steering wheel. Instrumentation includes custom Speed Hut gauges and a Techno Toy Tuning harness bar. A black aluminum NISMO shift knob completes the manual‑focused cockpit.
Showcase at SEMA 2026
The Datsun S30 Concept is a one‑off display piece for SEMA 2026 and will not be available at dealerships or carry a consumer price. The build demonstrates how a classic Japanese sports car can be equipped with contemporary performance technology while preserving its original aesthetic.
