Discuss

Harley‑Davidson’s newest entry‑level motorcycle, the 2027 Sprint 440, revives a historic nameplate and returns to the company’s early single‑cylinder roots.

Heritage and production

The original Sprints were single‑powered bikes sold in the 1960s and 1970s, built in Italy. The new model will be assembled in Harley’s York, Pennsylvania factory for the U.S. market, although its engine platform originates from the X440 developed with Hero MotoCorp.

Powertrain and performance

Engine: 440 cc two‑valve air/oil‑cooled single cylinder, fuel‑injected.

Output: 27 hp and 28 lb‑ft of torque.

Transmission: Six‑speed with slip‑assist clutch.

Wheels: 17‑inch rear, 19‑inch front, both cast aluminum.

Brakes: ABS‑equipped disc brakes on both wheels.

Dimensions and weight

Claimed curb weight: 412 lb (vs. 421 lb for the Royal Enfield Meteor 350).

Seat height: 26.4 in (compared with 30.1 in on the Meteor 350).

Rear suspension: preload‑adjustable dual shocks; front forks are inverted.

Modern technology

Instrument cluster: 3.5‑inch circular TFT display showing speed, rpm, odometer, trip meter and warning lights.

Lighting: LED headlight, taillight and turn signals.

Connectivity: USB‑C charging port located above the headlight.

Accessories: optional windshield, engine guard, saddlebags and various seat options, plus signature skull adornments.

Pricing and market positioning

Harley‑Davidson initially announced a target price of about $6,000 USD. Canadian pricing is set at $8,499 CAD, roughly $6,100 USD, placing the Sprint 440 about $1,000 above the 2027 Royal Enfield Meteor 350 but in line with Triumph’s 400‑cc offerings. The bike is nearly $4,000 cheaper than Harley’s current entry‑level 975 cc Nightster.

Availability

Production is slated for spring 2027, with U.S. pricing still pending at the time of writing.

The Sprint 440 aims to combine nostalgic branding with contemporary performance and affordability, targeting riders who seek a lightweight, single‑cylinder Harley at a competitive price point.
