Trump assures no Iran attack after midterms

President Donald Trump says the United States will not launch a strike against Iran following the upcoming midterm elections.
Exciting news from Washington! President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States will not attack Iran after the midterm elections.
During a speech at the Washington Reflecting Pool, Trump answered an NBC reporter’s question by ruling out any strikes on Iran.
Earlier that day, in an interview released by Axios, Trump said, “One way or the other, we will do something, but there is no rush. We crippled them financially. They have no money, no gasoline, and their people are getting very tired of it.” He added that Iran “wants a settlement, as soon as possible. It could happen!”
Trump also posted on social media ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections, reiterating that a military action is not forthcoming.
The timing of the remarks—24 hours before Americans vote in elections that will decide control of Congress—has led many commentators to suggest the comments may be aimed at calming voters.
Trump’s statements come after a warning from conservative podcast host Tucker Carlson that the former president was weighing the possibility of dropping a nuclear bomb on Iran.
As the nation heads to the polls, the president’s reassurance adds a notable note to the political landscape.
