The BBC has released new stills from the upcoming three‑part Christmas special of The Other Bennet Sister, a series inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

The first series, largely shot in south Wales at locations such as Merthyr Mawr, the Gower peninsula and Brecon, attracted 6.5 million UK viewers within its first 28 days. Its finale featured Mary Bennet, portrayed by Ella Bruccoleri, agreeing to marry Tom Hayward, played by Donal Finn.

Production on the holiday special wrapped at the end of August. The three episodes were produced by Cardiff‑based Bad Wolf, with filming again taking place mainly in Wales.

Ruth Jones returns to the series as Mrs Bennet, a role she has described as “often quite cruel” to her daughter. Other returning actors include Tanya Reynolds as Caroline Bingley, Laurie Davidson as William Ryder, Poppy Gilbert as Lizzie Darcy, Maddie Close as Jane Bingley, Grace Hogg‑Robinson as Lydia Wickham and Molly Wright as Kitty Buncock.

New cast member Nerys Amber‑Stocks, known for Out There and Mammoth, joins as Mary’s housemaid Lucy.

The BBC’s teaser hints at a fresh development: “Just as Mary begins this new chapter, an unexpected visitor from her past arrives at her door in need of her help…” and adds, “With marriage comes a new identity and the question remains: who will Mary become as Mrs Hayward?”

Fans can now glimpse another look at Bruccoleri and Finn, while anticipation builds for the special’s broadcast.
