Alton Towers confirmed that the World of David Walliams area is now closed permanently, citing a regular review of rides and attractions as the 2026 season draws to a close.

Merlin Entertainments told Metro that guests should consult the Alton Towers Resort website and app for the latest information on attraction openings before visiting.

The Walliams‑themed section featured rides such as Gangsta Granny: The Ride, a 360° special‑effects experience, along with Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp, Royal Carousel and Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango. The area opened in 2021 and was based on the best‑selling children’s books by David Walliams.

Walliams, 55, was dropped by his publisher HarperCollins in December 2025 and later removed from Waterstone’s Children’s Book Festival. HarperCollins said it would not release new titles from the author, emphasizing employee wellbeing and privacy in its statement.

The park has said it will announce a replacement for the attraction at a later date.
